The Future of Co(vid)Working

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc, most of us have found ourselves either working from home, looking for a job, or trying to start our own business. Working from home presents its own set of challenges, even in regular times. And while you can't beat the commute, not everyone has the discipline required to focus on work for eight hours straight in a non-work environment. For some, the temptation to do a load of laundry, have Netflix on in the background or walk the dog several times a day is too strong. Those that already work from home are joined by spouses, who need space as well, kids who don't have school or daycare, or a roommate who is no longer traveling for work. What was once a quiet, private work domain has become a commune of sorts. And, while no one knows for sure what the "new normal" is going to look like, many speculate that a more significant number of people will be working remotely on some level. This is why I believe that coworking spaces like InDo Nashville, which offer a variety of flexible, cost-effective membership levels, will prove to be indispensable to the redesign of our work structure, and provide a solution to the growing problem of work/life balance.

With this in mind, we've arrived at a three-pronged approach, adapting to the changing world and preparing for our grand reopening. The first is a well thought out sanitation protocol to reassure our members that we have done everything in our power to make the environment as clean and safe as possible. The second is the creation of new and affordable membership options designed to mitigate the challenges of working remotely. The third is our unique reward program, designed to compensate our members for loyalty and referrals.

Our sanitation protocol comes from guidelines set forth by the mayor's office of Nashville as well as the CDC. InDo will also create a social distance/occupancy policy, installing ultraviolet germicidal irradiation systems in our HVAC units, a daily cleaning schedule, and making disinfectant available throughout the building. We will provide each member with a welcome packet consisting of gloves, sanitizer spray, and masks if we can obtain them. While no one can guarantee 100% effectiveness, we aim to get as close to that number as possible so that people have the confidence to come to InDo Nashville and take advantage of our membership packages.

In addition to our existing full-time membership, we have created several cost-effective membership levels designed to enable people to be efficient while working remotely, get a new project off the ground and maintain a healthy work/life balance.

For the person who only needs to get out occasionally, we have reduced the cost of day passes from $20 to $15 and will come with a punch card to track usage. For the unemployed person with an entrepreneurial spirit, we have created the $100 Jump Starter, which is a combination of five day passes, three hours of meeting room time, and one guest pass. Our memberships will be a great way to get your new business off the ground in a professional work environment, without breaking the bank. The next level up from the Jump Starter is the Sanity Saver. Perfect for people who are losing their minds because there is no distinction between your home and work life.

For $150 per month, this package includes ten-day passes, five hours of meeting room time, and three guest passes. And finally, in our quest to preserve marriages, relationships, and friendships alike, we have come up with a shareable membership called The Lifeline. Now that everyone is home all the time, it has become more challenging to work without interruption. Kids are screaming in the background of your sales call, your spouse needs to use what was your home office for his zoom, and your awesome roommate who was awesome because he traveled five days a week is no longer traveling. The Lifeline will solve that problem by enabling two people living at the same address to share a full-time membership, provided only one person is on-site at a time.

All memberships levels will be able to participate in our InDo Rewards program, to provide additional value to the memberships and promote our facility to others. They will be used to earn extra day passes, guest passes, membership upgrades, and more. Please check out our website for more details, and we hope to see you soon!
